NAIDOC week is a time in which NYU would like to celebrate our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, take time to appreciate the rich and diverse culture, all whilst getting active and supporting the future of Indigenous players within our club.

Discovering more about our ancestors, celebrating family traditions, embracing our culture, and understanding where we come from can open our eyes to how beautiful and unique we all are.

REFOCUS - Redirecting and Empowering Families through Culturally Unique Services

REFOCUS is a Community Controlled organisation, in operation since 2010. Their Mission is to uplift the well-being of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families in the Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, Gympie and Cairns regions.

Beginning with only six staff, now with a team of 65+, the organisation supports thousands of individuals through a variety of programs, with a specific focus on children under 18. Programs include family wellbeing services, family participation programs, NDIS support services, foster and kinship care as well as an Aboriginal medical service Gunyah of Wellness.

The REFOCUS team is driven by the goal of seeing the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community achieve the fullest expression of their true authentic selves and seeks to touch, move, inspire, and inform community through every interaction.
